Sebastien earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from SUNY New Paltz and a master’s degree in computer engineering from Clemson University. As a graduate student, Lafontant’s master’s thesis “developed pioneering work in accelerating modern brain-inspired artificial intelligence algorithms,” setting the stage for additional research. A volunteer for Day of Caring and IBM’s Employee Charitable Contributions Campaign, Lafontant also serves as the liaison between IBM and Binghamton University’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and was selected to attend the NSBE national conference.
