Sebastien Lafontant
Sebastien Lafontant ia a
Hardware Design Engineer in IBM.
Sebastien earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering
from SUNY New Paltz and a master’s degree in computer engineering
from Clemson University. As a graduate student, Lafontant’s master’s thesis
“developed pioneering work in accelerating modern brain-inspired artificial
intelligence algorithms,” setting the stage for additional research.
He is the current president of IBM Endicott’s New Blue, a team of employees
hired within the last five years who work together to grow professionally, build
community and retain talented professionals in the Southern Tier. It is “the
backbone” for many IBM site activities including coordination of workshops
for “Take Your Child to Work Day.” “Sebastien has time and again ensured we
have folks to successfully complete [these activities]” his supervisors note.
A volunteer for Day of Caring and IBM’s Employee Charitable Contributions
Campaign, Lafontant also serves as the liaison between IBM and
Binghamton University’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers
(NSBE), and was selected to attend the NSBE national conference. |
