Jesilyn Bergmann
Jesilyn Bergmann is a kindergarten teacher in Binghamton City School District.
An understanding of educational practices from other countries fuels Jesilyn
Bergman’s teaching. A year spent teaching in Australia, student teaching in London,
England, and teaching in the federally funded Head Start pre-school program have
challenged Bergmann to be innovative, encouraging and flexible in the classroom.
Called a leader who is “hardworking, intelligent and a strong advocate for
students” by her supervisors, she holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education
and a master’s in childhood and early childhood education from SUNY Cortland.
A member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Bergmann serves on its governing
board, chairs its Mission Committee and assists with youth activities. Organizing
an annual ice cream social and school supply giveaway, and reading weekly
to a visually impaired woman are among her regular contributions.
An active Girl Scout through her second year of college, she also received
the Girl Scout Gold Award for her work with the City of Binghamton
Parks Department analyzing flowers, growing conditions, colors and
blooming time for a flower and herb garden at a local senior center. |
