Why was STOC formed
|
|
|
Formed in 2002, the
Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition is a private
sector / academic partnership initiative to help
address economic growth in the Southern Tier. The
coalition provides a single knowledgeable point of
contact for regional business development resources
to assist new business initiatives. STOC will
identify, garner and apply resources through
collective action to enhance existing technology
businesses and to nurture new business
opportunities. |
Why STOC Is
Distinctive
|
| The Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition is a non-profit
corporation composed of business leaders from the
Southern Tier of New York State. The coalition
represents multiple disciplines including strategy and
business planning, marketing and business development,
legal, finance and engineering. The membership has years
of experience in a wide range of businesses including
large electronics and aerospace companies, successful
small businesses, startup companies and academia. The
coalition was established to create growth and new
business opportunities for both existing and new
entities. It will:

BC Plan
|
Greater Binghamton leaders committed to a comprehensive
economic assessment and development plan in September 2001
for Broome County New York and the Greater Binghamton area. Prepared
by Angelou Economics, it outlined a comprehensive economic
development action plan for the community on everything from
branding and brownfield redevelopment to communications and
marketing.
Much of STOC's strategic direction is derived from the BC
Plan work.
Read the Executive Summary or the
Original 2001 BC Plan (link
pending).
In July, 2006, Angelou was invited back to provide the
community with an update of our progress against the BC
Plan. Review a copy of his
2006 presentation.
The formal report provided with the 2006 presentation can be
found here:
2006 Angelou Economics Report
STOC will continually update our thinking based on progress
against the BC Plan.
The recent Angelou presentation is posted on the
www.greaterbinghamton.com
